In reply to Camille.

Great question, Camille! I got pregnant a year after my first C-Section, which is what my doctor recommended after my second C-Section as well. (So I had the surgeries 21 months apart). I felt comfortable with getting pregnant again. It is important to follow your instincts and comfort level with that.

Most of my discomfort a year postpartum was due to the area being rubbed (from pants, or from my breastfeeding child lightly kicking me, etc), in addition to having numb spots. Even still (27 months after my first C-Section), I can feel the little bumps on the corners where the staples were, and I still don't think they have dissolved completely (my second baby had a much smaller head, so the incision was smaller, so the corners are leftover from my first C-Section). I was actually really glad to have my second baby so close after my first, because my doctor was able to remove the awful scarring and staples. I feel like it helped my body heal in a better way sooner. (My Mother in Law had a C-Section with her sixth baby, had dissolvable staples, and she did not feel normal even 10 years later! I loathe staples.)

I hope that answered your question! Good luck with everything! Follow your heart!

I am 3 months PP and had dissolvable staples. They suck, are Not dissolving and seeming to take forever. My doctor does the suture closure but he was not present for my delivery. Baby was born breech. From reading your blog it sounds like it took nearly a year for it to feel normal? I’d like more children but wondering how long I should wait?!?
